updates working?

is it just me or is there a problem with the linux updates. my aspire says 3 updates are waiting, and wants to install one - patch through live update - patch 180045 [keyboard layout settings]. I download it, but the process seems to stop and errors with: could not connect with update server - explaining i should check my connection, but i know its fine.

what gives?

I'm having similar problems - my updates aren't working for several days and the package manager says it cannot connect to the fedora repository - I checked the fedora website, but there is nothing really specific mentioned if the repository is down....
