Just installed the new mini pci-e Intel WIFI 4965 on my acer one
works 100%

why is this significant?
it's not hackintosh compatible...
Is it because it's wireless n?
Either way, this is a bit of a useless thread, as you can install it easily, only takes removing 14 screws, and installing a driver.

It will stop beeing a usleless thread if we get some information regarding the change. Did the 4965 extend the wireless range? Did you add the third antenna that wireless n cards have?

I just ordered a 4965agn for my AA1 and i also ordered 1 extra antenna will install it as soon as i get it along with a 1024mb stick of ram.

It would be great if you made a external antenna connection with the 4965agn pciexpress card. That way you can hook up a 15dbi directional antenna which can detect signal up to 15-30 miles away. That's more than gazillion-drouple the signals you get from standard atheros card.
 
My order was for an internal antenna. but i figured, better 2 then 3 antennas :)
 
so how well does it work? Do pages load nearly instantly now? I'm thinking of upgrading my network card.... :) Thanks!
 
I installed the 4965gn now and added the third antenna. I can se many more networks from my appartment now then before so i gained range.
 
yeah, same with me, I got the intel n card, tried it with two antenna, got 130 Mbps connection, installed the 3rd antenna and got 130 Mbps with increased range...I have noticed that my runtime with a full battery has dropped to 2:08, but i think that's its worth it because pages load so fast that you can be much more productive in that time...

I have also ordered the 4965agn wireless card but did not find where to by the 3rd extra antenna in Sweden. If the 3rd antenna just gave some extra range then no worries.

A question: Does it matter wich one of the three connectors to use on the new card? Or could I just leave the one in the middle?

(I'm not that good with wifi and wondering if all 3 antennas is for both 2.4ghz(802.11bg) and 5ghz(802.11n) or for example 2 antennas for 2.4ghz and the third for 5ghz?)

Does the wireless work without the third antenna? or can wireless N works without the third antenna?

Yes. Purely because the way 802.11n works is aggregate access to multiple Access Points in the same time - that's why you have 3 independent TRX on your card, need three antennas etc. For ordinary user it's not big advantage to have 802.11n but for corporate user or office user with multiple Access Points within the same place it's amazing...

For example: One Access Point working only with G is able to give you 54MBps or 108MBps if you have proprietary stuff - on this one you can not have 300MBps. And also be aware about amount of people having access to the same AP - bandwidth is splat between them... In my home AP is set as: A plus B/G combined and I do not have full speed - I have 3 computers...

you seriously think pages will load faster on 130MBps connection than on 10MBps? because I don't think so...

streaming HD signal? maybe but websites.... nah.. sorry to disappoint you
