I have got ASUS Laptop Vivobook 17 Model X1704Za has soldered RAM 8GB

And has on slot for SO-DIMM RAM what is the maximum size I can buy ?

Official website says upgradable can be only 8GB,,,,,, which is an authentic source for info

Does that mean if I use upgradable 16GB means total will be 24GB with soldered one won't show in the system because of the limitation ?
