    This laptop has a
    Broadcom 802.11abgn Wireless SDIO Adapter

    The card is worthless - performance is poor at best.

    I emailed Asus to see if I can replace the card - whether or not it's soldered to the board.

    I don't want to open the laptop until I know if its actually necessary.

    Does anyone know about this?

    Welcome to the laptop forums site

    I have taken a look at this video and it looks like it's a soldered part

    Look at the part where he removes the wifi cable from a chip at 3.58 minutes
