OK, after a bit of thought, I decided to try out Windows 7. I downloaded an ISO and installed with no problems at all, only now my wireless LAN seem's to have gone tits-up and refuses to come on unless I re-enable my LAN card and then reboot. ?????? strange!!!??????

Windows 7 is pretty much useless with this WLAN problem since when I get it working again, it just conks out after 10-15 mins.

As such I've decided to remove it, but how?

Yes it does that the first times after a BIOS update! How many times have you tried to start it? my AAO did it 3 or 4 times before it workd

Right, I've managed to remove Windows 7 by using my bootable Windows XP installation USB stick. I did a FIXMBR and FIXBOOT command on the prompt.

That was easy enough but I think Windows 7 has some time left for development although I'm sure it'll work right once it's ready. It was certainly faster than Vista, but slower than XP and this was very obviously.

XP was much snappier and believe it or not, faster to boot up.

Btw.....I was running BIOS version v.3308. Is this the latest or is there something newer?

Mine as well. No light and it tends to drop out after a few hours of usage.

I used 184 from the above link. Win7 default driver, every other boot the wireless was 'off' and dropped out after a couple of hours requiring a reboot, wash rinse repeat. 184's, no issues at all, kill switch works and the LED. I didn't uninstall the old drivers first, just updated manually.

Thanks for the tip. After installing many driver versions, 184 finally fixed it for me. I've successfully copied a 400Mb file back and forth to my server, many times, without the connection timing out. Throughoutput is low (600 kb/s receiving, 1.3Mb/s sending) but at least it works!

I tried installing the 184 drivers, but when I point it to the folder it is saved in Windows says it can't find drivers for it. WTF

I downloaded the driver, and tried to install.

Win7 does not detect the card automatically, so I started a manual update. When selecting the manufacturer and model, I am faced with many, many models. Can anyone tell me which model to choose?

    Thank you

I had the issues with the 184 driver, but there seems to be 194 drivers now. I used those at it worked perfectly. check the other threads for the link to the 194 drivers.
