I read at Win7 Center that Build 7048 64-bit outperforms Build 7000, Vista and XP!
Hopfully this includes our latest leak?

Just put it on, works so much better than 7048. 7048 was crashing and freezing all the time. No issues with 7057 yet. Video is working well too.

I've read it has a few bugs with opening notepad on start up and a few other little niggles too. I am waiting to see what build number the 'real' RC1 is.

7048 has been perfect for me. I wont 'upgrade' to RC1, I'll install from scratch so wanna make sure it is the proper RC1 first!

True but I dont think MS would release RC1 with such a bug like that. So I reckon the real RC1 maybe a different build.

I am in love with this build. My only other previous experience with Windows 7 was the old build 7000 which was just too incomplete and buggy for my tastes.

This build however...just wow. Sooooo much less bloat than Vista. Got Windows 7 and a bunch of stuff installed and I'm barely at 10GB usage. Under Vista, I'd be looking at 20-25GB being used.

Windows 7 gets the big thumbs up from me so far. With both Vista and Win7 running so well on my Acer, I unhid and deleted the hidden recovery partition even as I have no plans to go back to XP on it.

I had downloaded Windows 7 with remarks as below:-

This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system
that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

Kindly provide assistance on how to install with usb stick. :?:

    Thanks very much.

Upgraded to 7057 yesterday. But I am having more trouble with this build than with the old 7000. It freezes and cuts the wifi from time to time. 7000 never froze or kick me off the network. Hmm... could it be because I did not do a clean install?

One other thing. You guys who are running W7 on a A150 with 1024 MB of ram, does your computer overload, dumps ram with a bluescreen and then reboots?

This update is a mixed bag for me:

+ AA1FanControl and QuietHDD autostart with no UAC nonsense.
    - I am seeing a lot of "Windows Explorer stopped responding" errors.
    - Built in AR1007EG driver detects networks but won't connect successfully. Thankfully Atheros v7.6.1.184 driver fixes this.
    - Battery life seems worse than on Build 7048.

Isn't it strange how different it can be between a 2 month earlier version and a later one that is supposed to be less buggier? For my part I still wonder if my problems could have been avoided with a clean install instead of an upgrade... Hmmm =S

    [edit]
After some research I have found that more people have been having more problems with 7057 than earlier releases. Lets hope that MS fix things up for the next one ;)

do a clean install it will solve all your problems, or at least most of them.
2gb of ram + windows 7 is the best thing ever =)

Hmmm, I didn't get an option to upgrade when I installed 7057, it appeared to completely wipe out the previous 7048 installation. I will flatten the Win 7 partition and try again though...

Maybe a stupid question but overall, how is it compared to original 7000? Is it worth reinstalling?

@Raiden. I upgraded over the top, and it's great. I noticed a bit of a speed improvement (so much so that I'm leaving indexing enabled). I use it every day as my work laptop running Office 2007 (Powerpoint, Word, Excel, Oulook Visio) + custom apps. Never looked back :)
