    Hi,

I addedd 1GB Kingston KVR667D2S5/1G memory to my AspireOne (8GB SSD).
The bios recognized the memory and showed 1535 MB RAM.

My machine has multiple user accounts. In the original "user" account, everything is working fine.
Now, when I log in as a user I created myself (using the instruction on this forum), I'm no longer able to launch Openoffice, I cannot open a terminal window....

When I remove the added memory, everthing works fine again for all users.

Any clue on what causes this behavour and how to solve this situation?

    Thanks in advance

either bad or incompatible memory. Run memory diagnostics on it, though you'll need some way of booting the machine off usb device (flash drive, optical, etc) to test.

    Thanks for the hint.

I changed the memory and got some manufacture certified memory (Kingston KAC-MEME/1G). It must be 100% compatible. I had memtest running several times. Result = 100% pass. Both Bios and linpus recognize 1,5 GB memory.

I guess it must be software related.

Additionally to the standard user "User", I created 2 more users "Custom_1" and "Custom_2"

With only 512 Mb on board, all three user execute all application without the slightest problem.

Now, When I the extended memory, user "User" works like before.

On the contrary, users "Custom_1" and "Custom_2" do no longer execute applications such as openOffice or terminal window. The computer just kkeps hanging. This, while I did not touch any of the acces rights.

Anyone, some idea about what could be the cause of this misery?
