For those using Vista on the AA1, Which version do you use? Eg. Home Basic, Premium etc.

I use Home Premium. I used vlite to remove the language packs and left everything else. Runs just fine.

Probably overkill but I installed a full version of Ultimate with SP1 and get an overall score of 2.7...Would welcome any tips to improve on this..

Only have 1gig of RAM installed..could probably benefit from an extra 512Mb

Has taken a while to iron out the bugs..but seems to run OK even with Norton 360 (Yeah I know should go for something leaner like NOD32).

All of this on a Samsung 1.8" 60gig hard drive mod....

Vista Home Premium full install, runs fine with 1.5G of RAM, idling at about 680MB of RAM usage.

I am thinking of installing Vista or XP when my netbook arrives, but I am wondering how the small screen copes with the start menu. Does the menu completly fill the screen the you press the 'start' button and is it possible to tweak the size of it? Likewise the gadget bar, can the graphics on that be made smaller?

    Thanks

I've enough with Home Basic because I don't use the Media Centre and other features that come with Home Premium or Ultimate.

Everything you mentioned scales automatically with the resolution, so the startmenu does not fill up the entire screen.

Oh, and as for the start menu, you can tell it how many things to show, so if it is too tall you can cut it down.
