What OS should i install on my HP Mini 110-3150sr netbook?

I got this netbook about a year ago it ran 7 starter but i somehow broke the install and pirated regular Windows 7. Im using it mainly for old games and im wondering if i downgrade to XP will it be better? I'm also considering Linux for web browsing. The bottleneck of this potato is the Atom N455 CPU which is even worse than a potato. Any suggestions for what OS i should install?
