Im looking to track down the chipset that the wireless card uses but after googling every conceivable thing Im no closer. I know its an atheros card but I cant figure out the manufacturer and chipset.

It should be one of these in this list: http://atheros.rapla.net/
but I have no idea where to start. Any ideas?

You can display a listing of the devices and vendors using the command below from a terminal:

    Code:
    lspci
or you can list specifically your network devices using this command:

    Code:
    lshw -C net

    Live long and prosper.
