weird looking panels on screen just won't go away

    Help - I have the linux system which I hate - loath even- just can't get on with it - anyway I have these 3 weird New Item panels that siton my screen all the flipping time - They have arrived after I looked in help re the panel they are large grey with a multipoint star that if you press do nothing but it says (new Item this item has not yet been configured - no idea what to do with them and how to get rid - would post a screenshot but no idea how to do that on this OS !

    any help suggestions most welcome.

    I would suggest you try one of the following:-

    1) try following one of the guides to enable full desktop operation & dispose of the default "fisher price" mode.

    2) Install an alternative version of linux, fedora 11 works pretty well in default but there are a few tweeks that can improve things here http://jorge.fbarr.net/2009/06/11/fedor ... spire-one/ also unbuntu nbr recives good feedback

    3) try using the left mouse button and deleting the item


    Personally option 2 is the best long term option.
