So I'm having a strange problem with my laptop. While on, and plugged in, it continually flickers between charging and not charging as if I we're repeatedly plugging in and unplugging the AC adapter. However, the laptop charged with no issues when it's powered down. I initially thought that it was my AC port on my laptop, as some of the plastic has beenbroken off for some time, but when I noticed that it charge while off I was confused. The charging light flickers even on, but stays a solid orange while off.

It's a tricky one to pin point, I would suppose that the problem is with the dc power socket
    as you describe.

It's going to require a little more power flow through the socket when under heavy load.
