Web Cam has stopped working! Can anyone help? New to linux

Can anyone help me? My webcam has decided to go mental and now only shows a picture that looks negative! This is on both ubuntu and Linpus which is still on my machine! I haven't got a clue where to start but have seen others with the same issue! Please help! Rebecca xxx
