I was given a D250 for Christmas and i'm seriously unhappy with the 1024×600 resolution, i'd much prefer a higher one. I read at the link below that the same model came with 1280×720 resolution earlier... so i'm wondering if anyone knows where to pickup the upgrade panel? I emailed Acer but they won't talk to me about anything since its a refurb!

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I'm not sure that it is a simple case of changing the panel to do this.
The graphics card would need checking to make sure it could cope with the extra resolution and at very least would need a driver update.
You would have to check that the monitor connections were the same also.

The main problem I have noticed is that a lot of programs need 1024x768 to run properly or install, and I don't think upgrading to 1280x720 would cure this as you are still below the 768 pixels required.

Let us know if you do find out any further info on this, as my gut says it is possible just a bit more difficult than changing the panel over!

actually those are the last d250 models. they were released in europe (norway, not sure on other countries) and japan.

we all use the same bios, and everything else is the same hardware wise. so you should be able to just replace the screens.
finding one of those screens is another story. i cant find them anywhere.

    Hi Mike,

I have seen one program which won't install because the screen resolution is below 1024x768 and it stated this as the reason.

I know there is a workaround out there to make the system run in 1024x768 for installation.

I don't think there are many apps that this happens with but I know there are some!!

I have a D150 and installed a recommend driver and a program called Easy Resolution Manager. Credit goes completely to Cat120 at this link:
http://www.acer-userforum.de/netbook-fo ... 7-a-3.html. It is a German Acer forum. First download this driver and install it: http://ul.to/zdtmjn
Then download and install Cat120's program at: http://ul.to/ze4io6
You can switch between the 2 resolutions. The 1024 x 768 is a bit cramped but acceptable if you need it.
    Good luck. :)

    Between native 1024 x 600 and 1024 x 768.

The Easy Resolution Manager will let you select between 1024x600 and 1024 x 768, but you can right click desktop and select screen resolution and even select 1152 x 864.

I don't know about the D250 but with the D150 the native max resolution is 1024 x 600 so the Easy Resolution Manager together with the recommended graphic driver is the only way to go.
