Which model laptop have you got? Upgrading RAM isn't normally very difficult and 2GB should be fairly cheap to buy now for most models.

The answer is it depends. Assuming your computer will take 2GBs of RAM it's fairly easy. First, I would go to Crucial and run the software that lets them figure out how much RAM you have and how much you can install. They will give you the price for the module(s) you need and show you how to install them. Every laptop has a limit as to how much RAM you can install, and to get maximum RAM you may have to remove the module that's in there now for a bigger one. This is not hard for most users, and the degree of difficulty is related to what brand and model you have. You may have to simply open a small door on the bottom, remove the keyboard or whatever to get to the memory modules.
