Unable to retrieve software information

Hi folks

Trying to add/remove software and getting an error

"unable to retrive software information"

details : Cannot retrive repository metadata (repomd.xml)for repository: fedora

Looking around the net this seems to be linked to network availablility but I can/am logged on via a wireless modem. Do I need to change something
