toshiba satellite user profile cannot cannot be loaded

    I have just got a toshiba satellite.It has been unused for a number of years,and when it comes on all i get is user profile cannot be loaded.Model psl40e and it is windows vista.Thanks for your help.

    p.s. i am a silver surfer,so could you keep the info basic.Many thanks.
