Toshiba Satellite Battery Stopped Charging

I had always had my battery set to charge to 80%. It was pretty much used as a desktop hardly every using it as a portable. A few weeks ago, the battery icon stopped showing a charge. It didn't go from 80% down to 50% or anything, just to 0% available plugged in. I am almost certain there was a Toshiba app that allowed me to set it to 80% charge but there is no longer any Toshiba apps in my list of apps. Do you know if this is an application causing this or can a battery suddenly go from 80% to 0% while plugged up. This is running the latest version of Windows 10.
