ThinkPad power

Hello,
Thank you for accepting me.
My Lenovo ThinkPad will not attempt to power on.
Thinking it was the battery connection I removed the back . The connection is nice and firm. There is a small plastic flap which hinges up and I found two wires under there red and blue they seem to have a small cup on the ends. Can anyone advise me on if they should be connected and where if so. They are not obvious to me,
