the desktop wont stay?

    Hi i just bought the acer aspire one i was able to put it to advance mod
    i was able to change my desktop background wallpaper but each time i restart my laptop the background goes back to normal
    any suggestion? do i have to use the terminal or something thhx

    Same problem here !
    After reboot the background is a full pink screen...

    Try the command 'killall -USR1 xfdesktop-xfce'. If that works, you can make a little script to launch the desktop, wait a few seconds for it to come up and then issue that command to fix the desktop, see this post:

    Getting this problem also. As i'm new to linux completely (let alone linpus) sancho's solution is a bit over my head. are you sure that if there was a way to copy the wallpaper into /usr/share/xfce/backdrops (i think thats it) since thats were it usually boots the image from? Just an idea. Anyway; is there a simpler way to resolve this?

    I've copied a wallpaper to /usr/share/xfce/backdrops renaming it both wallpaper.png and another copy default.png and STILL it will not boot with that wallpaper. I have to pull up the desktop settings and touch the transparency slider to get it to come up. Is this some sort of setting that I'm missing?

    Wow I'm an idiot. I still had it set to use the wallpaper in my downloads folder. Problem solved, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
