My close friend once told me that SSDs' lifespans are generally shorter than HDD. So to mitigate that problem your option is to use "mirroring" through RAID. I don't know this process and frankly I'm not sure if I should spend money in a newer feature that I would have to maintain in one way or another. My 2 questions are as follows. Is it true that SSDs generally have a shorter lifespan than that of HDDs? If so, how do I solve/avoid this problem?

HDD has a small amount of chips that basically acts as cache, and the rest of the drive is the same as a
standard hard drive a disc platter.
