Hi everyone, i am thinking about buying an AAO, and i was wondering: does the line-out support spdif? I've been reading the specifications on the chipset (witch is an intel mobile 82801GBM) and i think it might, but then again, it may depend on the hardware configuration by the acer guys. Anyhow, i just wanted to ask if any of you have connected the One to a 5.1 receiver.

    Saluttes

if you look into the hole, you will see it does not have a light emitter in there.
however, you can use an usb soundcard with spdif output :)

I have used this in the past

for connecting a non spdif (optical) to a 7.1 reciever.
I really liked the audio quality!

    This one looks more compact

The first one there I know is good, since I have used it. However, it is larger and it is really made for connecting minidisc to a pc, for recording without signal loss (due to resistance in regular wiring).

The first one only features the spdif (optical) output and the board is way bigger than the second url there.
I guess if you want something inside the aspire one, you would need to hacksaw one of those small usb soundcard units.

However, look at SNR values, at hz, etc. before choosing the one you want for your ONE.
