Sorry but this seems like a POS! WiFi is a joke.

OK, bought the 120gb XP version for my brother, his works every time, all the time. Bought the 160 XP version for the wife, worked great for a day but now rarely will connect to the network. Yes, it sees it, but all I ever get is Limited or no connectivity. I've updated the firmware to the .170 version.

Oh, they are using the same network.

Should I just give up and send it back to Amazon?

You may have a defective unit or a bad driver. The Atheros chipset is actually quite powerful on both transmit and receive unless restricted. With the right driver, mine shows 501mW with a 13db improvement on my router over other laptops.

Well, I don't have these problems with any other lappys in the house. This is very frustrating.

I just updated the driver to the .184 version so maybe that will help.

Frankly I don't think this is a Atheros problem at all. I suspect there is a general network problem with the machine as I can't connect to my wired LAN either. Only way I could get it to work was to reboot the router which was working just fine with everything else in the house.

    Cripes.
