I know the left hand slot (at least) is SDHC compliant so it will work with 32GB cards, but have you seen the price of them? They are well over GBP100 and for a machine that only costs 200 it seems a bit disproportionate.

It will be interesting to see over the next few months how many people end up storing more than a few GB of data on their Ones. I don't expect to but I have been wrong before...

SDHC user xp is fine, however according to the official website it only support up to 8GB SDHC until further BIOS upgrade I assume.

    Guest Guest

Odd the Acer Aspire One website says that both slots can only handle 8GB SD cards,
can anyone confirm a 16gb works in the expansion one?

    Thanks.

If you look carefully at the Acer site, it makes it clear that the lack of out of the box support for SDHC cards is an operating system limitation not a hardware limitation. I quote from the FAQ at http://www.acer.com/aspireone/:

Q: Does the Aspire One support SDHC memory cards?
A: Not at launch but in future users may use the "Live-update" to upgrade the operating system to support SDHC/SD2.0 formats.

I would be very interested to know how this could be the case if the card readers are not SDHC compliant. If the One has some facility to upgrade the hardware over the internet, it will be a world first and worth the price tag just for this feature alone.

Please do some research before accusing someone of lying. If you check their other posts, you'll notice they installed Ubuntu. Since the limitation appears to be in the stock OS, there's no reason they can't have it working.

    (Edited to pluralize pronouns)

    About that research... ;)

Acer Aspire One + Linpus Linux Lite = Official
Acer Aspire One + Windows XP = Official
Acer Aspire One + Ubuntu = Not official

    Thank you glibdud.

The fact that Ubuntu is not official in no way suggests that I was lying or even wrong. I never said the standard distro supported it - my post only referred to the hardware and by agreeing that it's a driver issue you imply that the hardware DOES support SDHC.

Furthermore, what basis do you have to suggest that ted616 is not using a 16GB card in his One - have you seen it?

Judging by your other posts here I assume that you didn't mean to be rude, but suggesting someone is lying is uncalled for unless you have very good reason and in this case you clearly don't.

Irrelevant. The original poster didn't specify an OS, so it's perfectly reasonable to simply show that the hardware is capable. At any rate, they certainly weren't lying about having it working.

All I'm saying is, no one likes to be accused of lying when they're just trying to contribute their experiences.

You are absolutely right. I did not mean to be rude, I forgot to add a ;) after the !.

Irrelevant for Ubuntu users, yes, but not for most users, including myself, since we don't change OS.
