A friend has bought a couple of samsung HS040HB (B) 40gb 1.8" hard drives for me from the U.S.(Accidental duplication).

I have tried one and it works great. However the drives have very fragile black comb-like bars to hold the ZIF cable in the connectors. I broke one and have now broken the other while trying to swap it from one drive to the other. ( Don't ask why!!!)
I have seen other postings on the net from those who have broken these bars, but no info on how to get replacements. I am now looking at scrapping two brand new drives. Does anyone know where to get them please( and yes I will have one for sale if I can get the bars)

    cheers

    John,
Those black comb like bars slide on to each of the 40 pins individually and probably installed by machines, not humans. Without the bar in place the jaw of the connector is in the closed position, but it is possible, with much trouble to push a ribbon cable in the jaw. You might give it another try.
