It's fine to run the laptop without the batteries, if you plan on using the laptop 24/7. The only downside is that on a power failure or interruption, your laptop will shut off instantly and theres a good chance you will lose data. Mind you, although laptops can run 24/7, it is NOT designed for this and will shorten it's lifespan. That's what desktop PC's are for.

I have a Dell c610, an Acer Aspire 9300-5005 and an AAO. I use the Dell without the battery every time I use it due it does not have a good battery. I also use the other 2 computers regularly without the battery when plugged in unless the weather looks like it may start to thunder and lightning. Then I use the battery so if it does start to show bad weather then I can disconnect the power and finish what I am doing.

Thanks everyone! NO experience with notebooks or laptops. My wife just got a 15.5 inch HP Laptop and I have 4 desktops. WHY I got this little thing is beyond me but thought it was "cute"! And the little rascal IS. But may not keep it as I find it very hard to see no matter how I adjust font size etc. And same with hearing the tiny bottom speakers. May try earbuds today. Thanks again, and I only have it on a few minutes at a time so probably crazy that I got the 6 cell battery but thought it was also dumb that my wife has to keep plugging hers in every 1 1/2 hours too. Now I will tinker and see if I can adapt to this tiny screen after my 23 inch desktop screen!

lucy, it's fine, I've been using my aspire one without a battery because I was a big idiot who sold my 3 cell and my 9 cell is probably going to arrive in the next 5 days.
