    Ok, I deciede to switch to the default xfce desktop just to see what it was like using this mod.

    su to root:

    $ su -

    and open the file /etc/xdg/xfce4-session/xfce4-session.rc:

    # mousepad /etc/xdg/xfce4-session/xfce4-session.rc

    and find the line:

    Client0_Command=xfdesktopnew

    Change it to:

    Client0_Command=xfdesktop-xfce

    From this site: http://jorge.ulver.no/2008/08/06/acer-a ... nd-tricks/
    But when I went to restart the computer for the new desktop it would not reboot and I had to hold down the power key to get it to turn off.
    After a couple of minutes of playing around in the default xfce desktop I decided to switch back to the Acer desktop, and again it would not reboot. But I did get the Acer Desktop back. Can anyone tell me how to make my AA1 reboot and shut down again?

    Thank you, Oliver.

    OK, the first thing is backup.

    Copy any file you are likely to edit, that way you have a safe way back.

    The only easy way back to a known configuration is to use the recovery CD, instructions in the box.
    if the system has anything on it that you want to keep, copy it to a memory stick before running the recover cd.
