I just upgraded my memory to 2gb, and noticed my 'Windows Experience Index' climbed from 4.4 to 4.5 in the RAM category. I'm running Win 7 and I do notice an increase in speed, I just expected more of a gain in the rating. Let me know if W.E.I. score comes back any different. Part of me thinks these scores don't mean a damn thing, I'm just curious if anyone gets a different score.

    Here is my complete score:

    Processor: 2.2
    Memory(RAM): 4.5
    Graphics: 2.1
    Gaming Graphics: 3.0
    Primary hard disk: 5.6

    Thanks for your time!!

I haven't run the WEI on my D150 yet, because I like having all the features enabled, and if you get a low WEI, some features get disabled.

I'm curious as to what memory you used, PC5300? If you used anything slower, that could cause you to get a very similar score after upgrading the capacity. The memory score is a combination of capacity (size), and latency (speed, I think read/write only). Latency seems to be a pretty big part of the equation, I say this because on my desktop, overclocking my ram from 800 to 1066 makes a sizeable difference in WEI ram score.

I would suggest a good benchmark program such as Everest to get a better idea of how your machine's performance is affected by additional ram.

I think your stick is rated too high, if I'm right the max on the D150 is PC5300 533Mhz SODIMM Memory. However, most motherboards will use memory rated higher than it's max, and just run it at slower speed. If the memory module doesn't have the motherboard's max ratings as part of it's included settings, the motherboard may run it even slower.

You can easily find out if this could be an issue by checking your memory settings with a program like CPUZ or Everest. They can show you both the current memory settings, and the memory module's supported settings list.

    Thanks AOD150BLACK
I ran CPU-Z, and under the memory tab it states my dram frequency is 266 MHz. Under the SPD tab my max bandwidth is PC2-5300 (333MHz). Does this mean my 677 MHz RAM doesn't support 533 MHz?

    Thank for your time

Since it's DDR2 memory, that tab only shows half the actual speed, so you are running at 533Mhz.

Perhaps going from 1 to 2 gigs isn't enough to change the WEI. Regardless, I wouldn't pay too much attention to the WEI, it's just a test.

The WEI checks the speed of the RAM not the amount I believe. Going from 1 GB to 512Meg or 2GB shouldn't have any impact on the number unless you change the type/speed of the RAM chips.

Will D150 work with 800mhz ram?

I haven't tried, but it can work. It all depends on the memory specs.

If it does, it will only run at the D150 mobo's max speed of 533mhz.

hmm...why 533? I thought D150 can handle up to 667mhz)) So it say's on the official site.

Could you share the link to where it says that? All I could find was the product page stating it comes with 533, but didn't see where it stated the limitations. Thanks!

Thanks! I can't seem to find a similar page on the us website.

Has anyone using 667 ram checked to see what it runs at?

I wish I had known this before I bought my ram.

I have the acer aspire one AOD1501920. I just ran the cpu-z and it is telling me that my memory is 266.1 Mhz. does this mean that the memory is slow or that the MB is slow or that the MB is just somehow set low?

I am ready to buy new ram at 2Gig at a faster rate but not if this MB is going to only run at 266Mhz

the model number on my ram came up with this search:

    Samsung Electronics Co Ltd
    Samsung 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667MHz non-ECC Unbuffered CL5 200-Pin SoDimm Original Memory Module Mfr P/N M470T2864EH3-CE6

so if it is 667 mhz why did cpu-z says it is running at 266.1?

CPUZ only shows the basic rate, it is DDR2 which means you double that number, so it is running at 533mhz.

Now we need others with different brands of memory with 667 ratings to see what CPUZ reports for them.

Even if you used 667Mhz DDR2, the AAO will still clock it at 533mhz. All memory modules will run at less than the specified speeds. Ex. 667 running at 533 is perfectly ok. It's overclocking w/c will give potential problems. Therefore no matter what 667Mhz DDR2 you will be using... the AAO will still clock it at 533 since that's the speed the mobo is using. Cheers. ;)

That's what I thought, till I saw that page posted above. Maybe a misprint since it's only on the italian site.
