Why are most of the RAMs posted 667MHz RAMs? Because the AAO just has a 533MHz RAM interface, as far as I know. (I know that 667MHz should be compatible to 533MHz slots, but why should I buy a more expensive 667MHz RAM, if a 533MHz would be adequate?)

I think the reason is 667 are more wide spread.
Like Alot online stores carry more 667 rather then 533.
Also sometimes 667 are on sale at the same price as 533.
The place I have bought mines form, the 533 was $1 more than the 667.
    You make the call...

But if you can get a cheap cheap 533 then go for it,
it will perform just like a 667 which is being downclocked.

PS: Some people use existing ram from other notebooks also, so they go with what they have.

    Apple Ram?

Hi, I've got an iMac and have a 1Gb stick that I replaced with a 2Gb pair. No comment on this list about whether iMac ram will work in the Aspire, altho the specs on my stick reads the same as the Kingston unit, and I've used Kingston in my Macs at different times, with no problems.

So, can anyone hazard a guess as to whether the iMac ram will work? Appreciate any clues. Thanks

A mention must be made: It doesn't work "from the box", it needs SPD correction before installing into AA1 and then can work as 1GB only.

    NO.
You'll need to patch module's SPD data (with SPDtool running on notebook with native 2GB modules support) before AA1 can boot with this (or any with similiar ranks/banks/rows/columns organization) module installed.

WARNING! There is an entire thread in the hardware problems section
    viewtopic.php?f=24&t=903
Where kingston 1gb ram sticks of varying kinds are killing AAO's. I would avoid them period.
