PLEASE PLEASE HELP ACER ASPIRE ONE PROBLEM

Sorry if this has been asked before but i couldnt find an answear.

I have an acer aspier one 9300 that turns on hard drive whirls but the screen is totally black.

I cannot seemt to get a picture on another monitor (holding fn and pressing f6 once)
I have been told it could be bios
it could be screen
it could be invertor

Someone else has said hold power button with nothin attached. This didnt seem to work either... I will try it once more tonight.

The 'black screen fault' seems common but i was wondering fi anybody could possibly shed any light at all on this or if this laptop is just broken

Sounds like it's broken (the backlight has possibly gone out), but I can't tell for sure. Are you running Linux or Windows? My Linux desktop recently started booting to a black screen when using Ubuntu, but I could fix it by restarting X server. To see if it's an OS problem, try booting from a live CD or USB. Also, are you seeing POST and other startup text while it's booting? Somewhere on this site are instructions for flashing the bios. Good luck.
