Package Manager Corrupted

Is there anyway you can restore Package Manager? Mine started and tried to retrieve software info, then stalled.

Make sure (1) you are connected to a network (wireless or wired), and (2) you've supplied the password when asked.

Also, I found with mine that there are some packages that were installed by Acer (I suspect, based on the name) that
cause the package updater to freak out. In particular, unless you want to pull out the restore disk, know what you are
doing before you attempt to update xfce.
