i was wondering, i installed the synaptics driver and my scrolling works and everything.
but whenever i want to either mute the sound or turn the volume up or down (with the Fn button), i dont get the on screen display like i usually get with windows xp.
is there a driver for that?

I suspect that the Acer Launch Manager provides the OSD in Windows XP.

I don't have the OSD on my AAO's because I have upgraded from Linpus using a retail version of XP Home and I haven't installed Launch Manager yet.

Not sure if Launch Manager is compatible with Windows 7.

Works fine on mine under Windows 7. I upgraded over my Vista installation, and everything kept working. :)

hmm, strange. Just checked the mute button, and it is all ok. I'll check what version I have installed and post back.

I tried installing eNet Management v2.6.3005 from Acer which I believe gives you the on screen displays, but it told me I needed to install other Acer software

"Please install Acer Empowering Technology Framework first."

    http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/ ... =&areaid=2

I have a dual boot XP Pro & Windows 7 Build 7000. Windows 7 is on a different partition that I created with Partition Magic, so I did not do an upgrade.

I tried looking on the recovery partition for for the "Acer Empowering Technology Framework" install but can't seem to find it.

It doesn't seem to be in the download list from Acer Support either.

Anyone get the on screen displays working besides doing an upgrade?

It's like looking for a needle in a haystack but after 3 different ones I found this one and it did the trick. http://www.zdnetasia.com/downloads/pc/swinfo/0,39043052,50002418r-39516140s,00.htm

The setup application is buried a few folders in but it's not hard to find.

EDIT: Well the display worked but I should have tested. Maybe it's just a setting, but I can't adjust the volume from the keys now. The display appears but it doesn't affect the volume. Someone else should try it.

What worked for me was downloading the launch manager installer, and running it in Windows Vista compatibility mode (just right click> properties> compatibility). It's working perfectly now. I can even turn on and off the wifi card with the hardware switch.
