All networked computers must have the same WORKGROUP NAME.

Check and or fix the name, and then reboot both computers.

Also with XP the computers need to by in the same IP range.

Type ipconfig /all in a cmd prompt and verify that the IP address match except for the last set of digits.

For example 192.XXX.XXX.XXX will not see 168.XXX.XXX.XXX but 192.123.456.022 and 196.123.456.100 can see each other.

google "my ip" and see if all your computers have the same external ip, then goto cmd and ipconfig, and look for the ipv4 address, this will be a 192.168.x.x and diferent from all the computers on your network

type \\192.168.x.x\ (x is the addr of the computer with the shared files)

in windows explorer and see if the shared folders come up
