I've had problems in the past with wireless connection. I've got a multiboot system on flash drive using unetbootin. Of the several ISOs on the stick PCLINUXOS 2010.12 is the only one that works consistently with wireless. So give that one a go

I have intermittent problems obtaining a wireless connection when I'm on the road (at home it works fine) - doesn't really seem to matter what distro I'm using (Fedora, Ubuntu, Puppy, PCLinuxOS, Mandriva). I get the problem even when NetworkManager applet shows a decent signal strength. I assume it's the built-in wireless card, and just live with it.
