I've recently bought an Aspire One with Linpus and a couple of days ago the sound just stopped. I've just bought a CD/DVD player and playing a CD i was suprised to hear the music! Yet when i go to say, Youtube, nothing via either the built in speakers or headphones :?: Also the 'system' sounds i.e. the various bleeps associated with signing into messenger, error messages etc etc have ceased. Any suggestions greatly appreciated! What have i done? I've looked at the sound settings and needless to say its not on mute or anything logical like that :( Cheers, Jonathon

    In a terminal run: alsamixer

This is a CLI application. Use arrow keys and crank up PCM volume. Press ESC to exit. Does that help?

    Cheers.

that works for me, but the problem is, everytime i restart, it resets the pcm back to 60, and the master to 100. this is very annoying.

is there a way i could set the default to be master:50% pcm:100% ??????
