A newbie to linpus, but have just installed some programs and now after rebooting, i have some problems.

I have a distorted coloured desktop with the internet toolbar and the main toolbar. I can only access the system monitor section and alt f2, but on looking at system mointor it has all processes except system monitor in sleeping status.

How do I awaken these so I can get back to normal.

I really need help on this.

    What software did you install?
(I doubt "sleeping processes" is your problem)
It might be your desktop config is broken...
    Try renaming it and rebooting
    mv ~/.config/xfce4 ~/.config/xfce4-backup
    reboot
