My laptop suddenly freezed

Hi, recently I have no idea why my laptop suddenly freezed. It has happened a few times already. Basically, nothing I can except to abruptly hold the power button for a few seconds to abruptly shut it down. Even pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete also no reaction. The model I am using is Acer Aspire 4736Z. Bought it on Dec 2009, run on Window 7. Was it has to do with the hardware or some kinda virus? I have scanned it with AVG but nothing detected. Any hint?
