I am launching a website and need a good FTP program to use. I had been using my Mac but want to start using Linux more. Is there a specific ftp program I should look at? I don't need anything fancy, just something easy to use to transfer files both up and down, etc.

How about ftp? It's a CLI program, but it's been around forever, so it's well-tested. If you're looking for a GUI program, you might give gFTP a try

maybe I'm hallucinating but I started to hunt down an FTP program but I already had gFTP on it . Once you get the advanced menu, it should be there

Filezilla is on the Acer software site. I've used it with Mac and Windows previously. Solid.

I use a great little Firefox extension called FireFTP. Super reliable, and puts FTP right where you need it if you are uploading web pages!

    Cheers

For open FTP, FireFTP is fine; however, I had problems getting it to work with secureFTP. Filezilla was able to handle SFTP.
