Well i have found a few lite weight messengers that don't need to be installed.
And they seem to be reliable.

    msn: PixaMSN
    aim: TerraIM

They are few 200s kb big EXEs, and do not need to be installed, they actually "work work" unlike some other light weight messengers that spend more time being frozen or try to log on.

So if you know any similar ones for other providers please post them here.

Keyword is light, prefere no install needed and it needs to work.

    pidgen/gaim portable -all protocols
    trillion portable - all protocols
any other common messengers can be made portable easily

But i gota say, if you use msn, windows live messenger 2009 is the best. You can also make it into portable version easily.

Well that would require making it portable o_O
aka having an installed file and then run some patch to make it portable ?

I have had bad luck with them not working on every computer.

or aka installing them on virtual machines, making them portable, then not installing on your AAO, and use it as a portable program.

Or just download a portable version off the internet. Pidgen/gaim has already been made portable. I'm sure you can find MSN portable somewhere on the internet.

If you're not satisfied with the readily availiable ones, make your own in like 5 minutes. All it takes is 200 paged Vmware book, a fast computer with lots of ram, some time and a thick book of autoit, thinstall, thinapps, etc.

All messenger can be used with IM MIRANDA and is portable. I run it from an USB Stick. Can run multiple accounts from same messenger protocol. You have to know how to do that...but then it is easy.
