I've replaced my SSD with a compact flash card and it's working MUCH better (faster) than the SSD.

    HOWEVER:

it was very difficult and very expensive to do. The main reasons I did it were because it's fun for me, and because the SSD was just far too painfully slow to do all the OS hopping that I enjoy.

I also almost gave up a few times and almost completely broke my AAO a few others.

I just bought the parts to do it, so hopefully I won't have any problems, and it'll just work. You can get a 8gb 350x cf at newegg for $75. There's some images of benchmarks in the hacking forum, and it looks to be a considerable amount of increase over the stock ssd.
