On these newest cpus, with Intel drivers, is it safe to update drivers direct from Intel.

Asus laptop with Intel 5500 graphics, I am curious if I can update Windows 10 drivers from Intel or if Asus may have modified them.

The Intel Driver program did not find a driver, if it even can.
I don't want to wait for Windows Update, since another computer got a video driver update which screwed things up.

I don't use programs like that. I know where to get updated drivers. Besides it in no way answers my question.

I spoke with Asus support and their answer, right or wrong, was they can't guarantee those drivers will work
100%. I would really like to check out their China website if I can find it.

The Intel drivers will not install because the video card is not the same, or something like that.
    Asus must modify the driver.

Having looked further into your question, it seems that a beta graphic driver for windows 10 has been created for the intel 5500 chipset.

    See this site

    www.gamingpcbuilder.com/download-windows-10-intel-graphics-driver/

I have used the driver booster program without problems on many machine
it does seem to find the most elusive drivers however.

Intel is one of the slowest to release updated drivers, and most of the manufactures
    seem to follow suit.

Asus does modify Intel drivers. I have the 5500 also and the driver cannot be updated.
The only driver that I have updated are Wireless and LAN.
