Intel Shipping Dual Core Atoms

    My system monitor says my N270 Atom 1.6GHz is a 2 core processor and tracks both cores usage.

    That's hyperthreading. It tricks the operating system into thinking that there are actually two cores so that spare CPU cycles can be used on another thread.

    I think it's ironic that Intel is focusing on shipping more powerful Atoms, rather than a new, more energy efficient chipset.
