Which of the these two would perform better (just for day-to-day multi-tasking (a youtube video playing with 15 tabs open on Chrome, 4 tabs open on Excel, and 3 tabs open on Microsoft)?

Thanks. The reason I asked is because I'm looking at these two computers:

    from the 2 links.

    5th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-5500U processor Features a 4MB L3 cache and 2.4GHz processor speed with 6GB DDR3L SDRAM
4th Gen Intel® Core™ i5-4210U mobile processor with 8GB system memory for advanced multitasking

It is a very close run thing and will depend largely on what the actual speed of the RAM is which is not stated for either model, however, the 2 CPU's above have been compared and the i7 came out above marginally. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i7-5500U-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4210U
Also the i7 has a named graphics card (Intel® HD Graphics 5500) whereas the i5 model does not (Mobile Intel® HD Graphics)

So it will come down to which will be more useful. A 14inch screen verses a 15 inch screen. 4.5lbs verses 5.0lbs or the wonderful little feature which I love and use constantly a backlit keyboard (i5 model). It's a really tough call. I have worked on a 13.3 inch screen and got by. I'm now on a 15inch model laptop and it is nowhere near as portable and generally lives at home.

Without knowing the speed of the RAM on the i5 model I would not like to say for definite but I would want to see them side by side and feel how they work personally.
Of course at the end of the day, you probably (but not definitively) can upgrade the RAM at a later date on both of them, so it probably does not matter!
