Hi new user here and thought I would let you know PC World Leicester (Fosse Park) has stock. I've just bought one - 512mb 8gb SSD blue - and they had another 7 left. Their price is way high though so get them to price match with dabs.com or similar.

So far I'm really pleased with my purchase :D

Why would PC World do a price match with any other company, who can not sell or even stock the item at the moment.
PC World have the exclusive, so can charge what ever they want.

As of the 24th, it was out of stock. According to a PC World employee, the stock had been recalled.

That contradicts with three managers that I have spoken to recently, not saying it is not a fact, but it certainly is confusing.

I called Acer Tech support and they said that they hadn't been recalled, but then again they also said that they hadn't released them yet either.

I'm starting to wonder if they actually haven't been recalled. PC World only had very limited stock of them in the first place, and if they were to say that they had sold out then that would sound bad - saying there has been a recall makes you less likely to shop elsewhere, and if there had been a recall surely it would have been nation or world) wide and people wouldn't have been picking up Aspire Ones in the last few days.

Can anyone confirm if they have seen a white One in PC World though?

or if acer tech support say they "haven't been release yet" maybe PCW have jumped the gun & sold stock they are not supposed to release yet and have had their knuckles rapped :)
don't see why they should be stopped from selling stock they have though? it's not like it's the new harry potter or something...

not that i mind, i was one of the lucky ones who got their One out of PCW before they disappered & i've been happily breaking the install ever since</smug-git>

When I got mine today none of the staff knew anything about it. They kept blaming someone from last night so it is more than likely not a 'product recall' but just that they shouldn't be selling it yet.

They were quite happy to do a price match (see above re not knowing..... ) and they only had blue 8gb SSD in stock.

Seems a bit of a sham to me but i dont mind as i have mine!!!

I went into the PC World on Tottenham Court Road (at the top, is there still one at the bottom) on Thursday to have a look at the Aspire Ones having seen one in MK at the weekend before.

"Do you have the Acer Aspire One in stock?"
    "Yes sir"
    "Can I see one please?"
"No, I'm sorry, they are not on display"
"Oh, can you go and get one so I can see it?"
"No, because they are not on display"
"So I can't even see one?"
"No, I'm sorry, they are not on display"

I went to PC World in Milton Keynes on Friday and bought one instead. Loving it.

Bit of a weird buying experience though... Bloke had to check stock levels by printing off all their Acer assets in a list (why?), noted there were 5 (blue) in stock by putting a ring around it on the paper. (in the manner of a village constable). Then I had to answer some questions about what it was going to be used for. :?: Finally I had to avoid the insurance at £2.99 a month for breakdown and accidental damage (doesn't seem too steep actually).

As an aside, I bought two Nintendo DS games at the same time for my kids... despite them both being marked-up at £29.99, one was sold to me at £12.97 and the other at £21.99. No idea what those bozos are up to in that shop...

YES, I know I could have saved £30 by waiting for Amazon... but I have mine NOW. Or rather... my wife has hers...

    I WANT ONE TOO.

Quick tip - goto www.saynoto0870.co.uk and you can find all the local numbers for PC World stores, instead of having to go through the 0800 number. Don't search for the store name aswell though as sometimes it doesn't show up in the search results even if it's listed, just search "PC World". :geek:

If anyone is after an 8Gb SSD blue 512Mb model, then there are 3 in stock at PC World in Farnborough.

Went last night, and same issue as mentioned elsewhere on this discussion, that they had some in stock, but they were not on display.

The guy I asked about them was luckily the guy who had placed them in their stock room the previous week. He had a look, but was disappointed to report that it was only the SSD version that they had.

I'd printed out the play.com list of models as a reference, and while we were discussing the models I asked about price matchin, and he said that they would honour the play.com price.

in the end I had to walk out of the store without a One as I really need the HDD version (i'm a computer consultant, and want to have all my notes and documents available, but don't want to have to drag around an external HDD or dozens of USB sticks)

Oh well, maybe next week I'll have more luck and get what I want.

So put a 32Gb SDHC card in the One and you then have 40Gb of SSD space.
Then you only need three USB sticks :)
