I'm a college student and my main uses are basically Netflix and homework on it. Nothing too crazy....

Toshiba is a BIG Company that MAKES, assembles and fine tunes their own Computers

DELL assemble computers from parts bought in Taiwan...

NOW which would YOU choose ?

Any models in mind? That could make a difference. A few years ago I used to work in a small tech repair store. I never saw a Toshiba there for hardware problems, mostly virus related and performance issues caused by the users themselves. Dells on the other hand... heating problems mostly.

Either would likely work. My experience with Dell is almost uniformly negative. My experience with Toshiba, on the other hand, is almost uniformly positive. If it were me, I would go with the Toshiba between the two. Personally, I go with a Macbook with dual boot capabilities these days, but a Toshiba would be a solid rig for a student.
