I have just switched from using Vodafone to Huawei's own driver. I installed the huawei.sh. But I can't change the DNS to open DNS as I usually did in Vodafone or in Windows + Huawei. Changing the /etc/resolv.conf did not work. Please help ....

I've been trying to do a similar thing myself, as I've found that I keep getting assigned dns servers at 10.11.12.13/14 (which don't seem to exist!) nine times out of ten when trying to connect to 3UK using a Huawei E160G.

My linux knowledge is very small (and probably a danger to myself!) but I've managed to work out that the Huawei driver adds a script that saves a copy of of /etc/resolv.conf and replaces it with a copy that includes the DNS settings as obtained by the driver, so any changes you make to resolv.conf will be overridden when you make a connection using the Huawei driver.

The scripts are... /etc/ppp/ip-up.local ...and... /etc/ppp/ip-down.local

if you delete or rename these files you should retain your original resolv.conf with your preferred DNS settings in it.

Personally I edited the script to always insert known working 3UK DNS entries into resolv.conf instead of the ones provided from the Huawei driver and left it to restore the original resolv.conf when the mobile connection is terminated.
