    well,
i got back the status bar with xfce4-panel,
but it doesnt wanna stay when i close the terminal session.
and i lost the icons for the battery loading channel and the network connection. this is why i cant connect to the internet with the aao anymore.
(once i will, ill try the http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/panel- ... ery-plugin for the battery...)
    cheers, mart

I'm afraid I'm unsure what you might have done to lose your panel on startup, but have you tried Panel Manager from the settings menu? That may give you an idea as to what's happened. For the icons, have you lost the system tray? Try using xfce4-panel -a to return the system tray to your panel.

Is your panel missing or have you deleted it?

Hit alt+f2 and enter xfce-settings-show and then click Panel.

You should be able to see at least one panel there.

You can change its content by following these steps:

Hit Ctrl-Alt Del and end the process xfce4-panel

Now hit alt+f2 again and enter xfce4-panel.old

Your panel will appear but will look a bit goofy - don't worry about this.

You can now right-click the panel and add items to it.

You can remove items by dragging them from the panel back to the Add dialog.

When you're done, return to the process list (or hit Ctrl+Alt+Del again if you've closed it)

    End the process xfce4-panel.old

Finally hit alt+f2 again and enter xfce4-panel then admire your new panel.
