My Latitude e5440 (windows 10)'s battery worked very well (5+ hrs) 2 days ago, but suddenly not usable.

now the battery icon shows msg "99% available( plugged in not charging)" and the laptop cannot boot without ac adapter. the boot msg said the battery present but not recognized, F5 boot device testing says the battery reached the end of life.

My question is: why the battery died but still 99% available? Is it possible the motherboard has problem?

I don't have spare battery to determine if a new battery can fix the whole problem....

    Any suggestions, advises?

    Thanks
