The 1.8" drive in my iPod 5G is barely audible. You can only hear the motor spinning if you hold the iPod next to your ear. You can just about hear the heads parking and unparking in a quiet room.

I would imagine that a 1.8" drive would be equally as quiet if correctly installed into a 110. Perhaps some thin foam cushioning to prevent the drive rattling against the motherboard and the bottom of the case?

An SSD is essentially silent since it has no moving parts.

I don't know if my HDD on my AAO makes noise, because I got the noisy fan. :?

The SSD on my EEE PC makes noise. I have to place my ear very close to the case to hear it. It's a quiet, high pitched electronic chirping noise. Imagine a dozen of electron-sized baby chickens chirping.
