    Hi, im using a white 8 inch AAO with linux on it.
    No matter how many times I restart it, every time it turns on only the taskbar on the bottom, and the search bar show up.
    The rest of the home screen has patterned black and white pixelated bars.
    ill make ya a diagram. (-----) = black bar. (======) white bar.
    Home screen:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    ========================================
    -------------------------------------[Search bar]-----------------
    ========================================
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    ========================================
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    taskbartaskbartaskbartaskbartaskbartaskbartaskbar.

    The exact thing happened to me one day, unfortunately the only solution I have to your problem is to boot from a recovery usb which will also format your drive making you have to start from scratch!

    The manual you got inside the recovery cd will show you how to create the recovery usb. If youve lost the cd, you can dl the software on the linpus website, so Ive read. This is the only help I can offer since I am a total newbie to linux!

    Good luck!
